A controversial decision to send a pharmacist to jail for life for shooting dead a young man who tried to rob his store has caused a storm of protest.
Jerome Ersland was given a life sentence for the first-degree murder of 16-year-old Antwun Parker at an Oklahoma court last week.
The 59-year-old pharmacist shot the youngster six times during an attempted armed robbery in 2009, leading jurors to decide he had acted beyond the limits of self defence.
Dramatic CCTV footage from May 19 2009 shows Antwun Parker and an accomplice running into the Reliable Discount Pharmacy in south Oklahoma City and pointing a gun directly at Mr Ersland.
The pharmacist, who was once an Air Force lieutenant colonel, can then be seen reaching for a pistol of his own before firing at the two young men, with one of the shots hitting Parker to the ground.
After chasing the accomplice from the store, Ersland then gets a second gun before shooting Parker another five times, almost a minute after he fired the first gunshot.
In court, Mr Ersland's attorneys insisted their client had acted in self-defence.

This is the haunting final photograph of a young mother who was gunned down in a triple shooting that left her boyfriend dead and his brother fighting for his life in hospital.
Crystal Sweet, 22, was believed to be pregnant with her second child when she was shot in the courtyard of a building in Brooklyn, New York, as she made her way home from an all-night party.
She had been photographed just hours before as she left for her night out on Saturday, looking happy and relaxed in an orange dress with a matching handbag.
Her boyfriend, 29-year-old Timothy Walter, who had spent time in prison and was in parole, was shot dead at point blank range during the attack, at about 5am on Sunday.
Miss Sweet, still wearing her beautiful dress, was shot three times in the head and neck. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mr Walter's elder brother, Cornelius, was also shot several times, and is in a critical condition in Kings County Hospital.
Miss Sweet had got all dressed up to go to a barbecue in Bedford-Stuyvesant with Cornelius earlier that evening, leaving her five-year-old daughter, Lydia, at home with her mother.
According to the Post the pair were met by Miss Sweet's boyfriend when they got off the bus at Sheepshead Bay, where she lived with her family.
Her mother, Josephine Rodriguez, 44, said she was sleeping inside the apartment when the gunshots woke

A college student who received an obscene photo from Rep. Anthony Weiner's Twitter account says she's never met the married Queens politico - and backed his contention they're both victims of online pranksters.
"I have never met Congressman Weiner, though I am a fan," Gennette Cordova, 21, of Seattle, Wash., told The Daily News Sunday in an interview. "I've never been to New York or to DC."
She also issued a lengthy statement, complaining about how she's been characterized on blogs and other web sites.
"I have seen myself labeled as the 'Femme Fatale of Weinergate,' 'Anthony Weiner's 21-year-old coed mistress' and 'the self-proclaimed girlfriend of Anthony Weiner.' ... All of this is so outlandish that I don't know whether to be pissed off or amused, quite frankly," she wrote.
The online drama began Friday when a lewd photo appeared in Weiner's Twitter stream addressed to Cordova but visible to all 40,000 of his Twitter followers.
The photo was a crotch shot of a man in form-fitting briefs that left little to the imagination.
It was quickly deleted and Weiner, who was in the middle of Twittering about hockey, said he'd been hacked.
"More Weiner Jokes for all my guests," he Tweeted.

Twitter followers of Rep. Anthony Weiner were shocked when a lewd photo popped up on his official account late Friday night. The photo of a bulging male member cloaked in gray briefs was directed to a single Twitter user -- but on view to all 45,000 of his followers.
The wiener shot was the work of an unknown wag -- a computer hacker who gained access to the pol's passwords, his spokesman told The Post.
"Anthony's accounts on both Facebook and Twitter were hacked," said spokesman Dave Arnold.
The photo does not belong to the Democrat and wasn't taken by him, Arnold added. The lascivious link was sent to a female follower, a college student in the Pacific Northwest.
The tech-savvy congressman saw the picture almost immediately. He had been tweeting about a hockey game just a few minutes earlier. Weiner pulled the shot himself, but not before it had been retweeted and screen-grabbed by several followers.
Weiner, a voracious user of Twitter, wrote a humorous response about 15 minutes later.
"Tivo shot. FB hacked. Is my blender gonna attack me next?" he joked, ending the tweet with the hashtag "#TheToasterIsVeryLoyal."
Last night, Weiner jokingly tweeted, "Touche Prof Moriarity. More Weiner Jokes for all my guests!"
The woman who got the crotch shot has no ties to Weiner and isn't known to be part of his staff, Arnold said. But she took her Twitter and Facebook pages down a few hours later, after her name and a possible picture began to circulate on blogs.
Weiner, who represents parts of Queens and Brooklyn, got a message about a week ago from Facebook alerting him that his password might have been tampered with, Arnold said. But the warning was ignored, granting the hacker carte blanche to hijack Weiner's online identity.

After rolling out his campaign infrastructure with an elaborate video and a gaffe or two, Tim Pawlenty is going negative, mildly, and with polls showing almost anyone but Pawlenty is a viable Republican candidate, it may not be a terrible idea. Pawlenty ended the week attacking President Obama for his European trip on Twitter and even turning on potential candidate Sarah Palin.
Following up on the cattiest tweet in the Presidential campaign so far (“sorry to interrupt the European pub crawl, but what was your Medicare plan?”), Pawlenty visited CNN’s American Morning to elaborate on his campaign issues and react to his current poll numbers. He appeared happy that, despite the fact that “half the nation’s Republicans don’t know who I am,” he was still a viable candidate in the running, as early polls are “name ID more than anything.” If the polls were reliable, he joked, “Rudy Giuliani and Howard Dean would be presidents.”
With that in mind, asked if Palin’s weekend bus tour was worrisome to him, he seemed militantly unfazed: “This country isn’t going to be about rallies or you know bus tours or anything else,” Pawlenty said. “This is going to be about a country that is sinking in debt and deficit. We want to have a leader who has actually tackled those issues and doesn’t just talk about it.” He also noted that, while the current “exploratory” phases of other campaigns that may pop up are necessary, “soon we have to have a debate on the issues.”
“Any doofus can go to Washington and maintain the status quo and that’s what we’ve got in the White House and in Congress in terms of their attitude about their willingness to tackle these issues,” Pawlenty said. “If we’re not going to have leaders who are going to say that and do it and tell the American people, look them in the eye … then we’re all wasting our time.”

Lech Walesa snubs a meeting with President Obama in Poland

Pretty embarrassing for the president. Of course the Obama suck-up-media will continue to report that wherever Obama goes, it’s nothing but universal love and triumph because he’s the smartest man in the world.

Lech Walesa, Poland's Solidarity-era leader, ex-president and 1983 Nobel Peace Prize winner said Friday he would not accept an invitation to meet fellow Nobel winner US President Barack Obama.
"I expect this meeting would only amount to a photo opportunity," Walesa told AFP.
"I believe one day I will meet with Obama, but not this time," Walesa said, adding he wished the US president "very well, but sometimes things just don't work out."

Margo Dydek 7 ft fmr WNBA basketball player dies of heart attack at 37

A seven-foot-tall former women's basketball star has died of a heart attack at the age of 37.
Margo Dydek, who was pregnant with her third child, collapsed at her home in Brisbane, Australia, last week.
The Poland-born former WNBA star was put in a medically induced coma but died earlier this morning.
Cathy Roberts, the operations manager for the Northside Wizards in the Queensland Basketball League, where Dydek was head coach, said that Dydek was at an early stage in her pregnancy and that her unborn child had also died.
Dydek was the No. 1 pick in the 1998 WNBA draft by the Utah Starzz. She also played for San Antonio, Connecticut and Los Angeles.
The seven-foot-two Dydek, who was affectionately nicknamed 'Large Marge', was once said to be the tallest active professional female basketball player in the world.
She held the record for most blocks in a WNBA career, with 877 in 323 games, and led the league in blocks nine times, from 1998 to 2003 and again from 2005-07.
On August 27, 2008 Dydek signed with the Los Angeles Sparks following time away from basketball due to the birth of her first son in April 2008.

A notorious television show which encourages drunk women to strip and simulate sex acts should be banned from filming in Britain, MPs said yesterday.
Disgusted politicians described Girls Gone Wild as ‘demeaning, exploitative and casualised prostitution’ and urged the Home Office to stop its makers entering the country.
The show’s creators plan to launch in the UK in the next few weeks after conducting an online poll to find the ‘best venues’ to visit in its infamous tour bus.
The programme, which has been broadcast in the U.S. since 1997, features camera crews approaching intoxicated young women in bars and nightclubs and urging them to expose themselves in return for t–shirts and other merchandise.
Frequently they are also filmed kissing each other and simulating lewd sex acts in front of crowds of young men.
It is expected to be broadcast on a pay–per–view adult channel in the UK that will be available on many digital television packages.

Rudy Giuliani leads new national poll
Living in New York I can attest that Giuliani was a great mayor and a top shelf. However, the bugaboo with him is the social issues. Nuff said there.
However, the GOP can do a lot worse.

A new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation national poll shows the former New York City mayor atop the slow-forming Republican primary field.
The survey shows Giuliani getting 16 percent of independents and Republicans, with nominal frontrunner Mitt Romney a point behind at 15 percent.
Sarah Palin gets 13 percent.
Neither Palin nor Giuliani are sure things for the 2012 election, and their perches in the new poll — the first taken by the news organization since Mike Huckabee, Mitch Daniels and Donald Trump bowed out — speak to how wide-open the race is.

Rep. Tom Graves (R-Ga.) is questioning President Obama's use of an autopen in signing an extension of the Patriot Act.
In a letter Friday, Graves asks Obama to confirm that he saw the law prior to its autopen signing.
"Mr. President, I write to request your confirmation that S. 990, as passed by Congress, was presented to you prior to the autopen signing, as well as a detailed, written explanation of your Constitutional authority to assign a surrogate the responsibility of signing bills passed into law," Graves wrote

How is this constitutional for the federal government to take my money and sponsor a gay film festival?
The Feds are activity promoting a life style billions of people around the world find offensive and immoral based on the teachings of Christianity, Judaism and Islam.

“Everybody’s perfect!” says the poster for a gay film festival sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Bulgaria.
The festival, Sofia Pride ‘11, will feature screenings of Milk and other films in Sofia, Bulgaria from June 1 to 29. The American, German, French, Swiss and British embassies are jointly sponsoring the event.
“The series features one movie selected by each of the five sponsoring embassies, and aims to promote acceptance of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) rights in Bulgaria by examining the different issues and challenges which members of the LGBT community face in today’s world. All films will include Bulgarian subtitles,” a press release says.
The U.S. is kicking off the festival by showing Milk, a film about the first openly gay elected official in California. “The screening will be followed by an after-show party at My Mojito Club Sofia,” the press release says.

Bachmann Reveals Plans for Presidential Announcement in Iowa Next Month
Michele Bachmann along with Herman Cain are my favorite potential GOP nominees. This isn’t to say that I wouldn’t be supportive of the eventual choice. But, Cain and Bachman excite me the most.

Republican Michele Bachmann is making plans for a presidential campaign announcement next month in Waterloo, Iowa, the city where the Minnesota congresswoman was born.
Bachmann trickled out the details in a conference call with reporters Thursday night but said she could still reverse course and sit out the 2012 White House campaign.
Bachmann was supposed to speak in person at a GOP dinner in downtown Des Moines, but a vote in Washington turned the appearance into a video message. Hundreds of Republicans watched her via a blurry, choppy Internet feed, where she profusely apologized for her absence and offered a rain check. The feed briefly cut out but aides quickly dialed back in.

Republican presidential candidate Tim Pawlenty said he sees his low national poll numbers as an opportunity for his candidacy.
"I like the fact that these folks who are established, well known and yet and there's no real favorite in the face," Pawlenty said Friday on CNN's "American Morning." "So there's a ton of upside for my candidacy and it gives me a chance to introduce myself and put my record from Minnesota out there."
He also appeared unfazed by Sarah Palin's upcoming bus tour.
"This country isn't going to be about rallies or you know bus tours or anything else," Pawlenty said. "This is going to be about a country that is sinking in debt and deficit. We want to have a leader who has actually tackled those issues and doesn't just talk about it."

Parents rally in Harlem to protest NAACP's involvement in school closure lawsuit
Is it ironic that an organization supposedly dedicated to the advancement of African Americans join in on a lawsuit against schools that offer Black kids a better education?
In a rational world, it would be.
However we’re dealing with the machinery that makes up the Democrat Party. The NAACP ceased being a relevant institution years ago and is now reduced to being apparatchiks for Democrats. So, it’s no mystery to me that they would side with the United Federation of Teacher’s (UFT) lawsuit to crush charter schools.
Charter schools employ non-union teachers which is one of the reasons why they out perform traditional public schools with their bloated teacher salaries and benefit packages. But, the important thing here to realize is that the UFT wants to continue to collect union dues so they can continue to send it to the Democrat Party. The NAACP is just a tool to keep the spigot open.
This is how little Democrats thinks of Black people. They prefer money for themselves and don’t mind that these kids are locked in failing schools. In fact, it serves a dual purpose. A a failing school system continues to collect union schools, and under educates the very constituency they depend on for votes. A less educated population is susceptible to staying in poverty. That suits the Dems just fine because they’re the party of the little guy.
It’s a vicious cycle!

The families, many with kids in city charter schools, and advocates criticized the civil rights group for joining the teachers union in a fight to block the closure of 22 schools and stop 17 charter schools from opening or growing.
"Charter schools are public schools, too - we need space to grow," Harlem Children's Zone founder Geoffrey Canada told the crowd of about 2,500 people gathered outside a state administrative building on 125th St.

The mind of the Liberal is an incredible thing. They live in a world of their own where attempting to prevent taxpayer funding of abortion is somehow construed as a war against women.
Think about that for a moment.
It’s warlike, according to Debbie, to not want to be party to abortion. So killing unborn babies is not warlike, but withholding public funding is?
To the rational mind, it doesn’t make sense.
But, Liberal thought has absolutely nothing to do with rationality.

Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the new chair of the Democratic National Committee, said Thursday morning that Republicans are "anti-woman" and are waging "war on women" in pursuit of an "extremely radical social agenda." What about her Democratic colleagues who voted the same way as Republicans to cut off taxpayer-funding of abortion and/or Planned Parenthood? Are they "anti-woman" as well? "No," said Wasserman Schultz. They get a pass.
"It's just so hard for me to grasp how they [Republicans] can be as anti-woman as they are," Wasserman Schultz told reporters at a breakfast meeting sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor. She continued: "I think that the pushback and the guttural reaction from women against the Republicans' agenda out of the gate, the war on women that the Republicans have been waging since they took over the House, I think is not only going to restore but help us exceed the president's margin of victory in the next election."

8yrs old Texas girl Tori Blair Wilson, hangs herself, bullying possible
I don’t know any of the details of this girl’s life, but something doesn’t smell right here. What does an 8 year old girl know about wanting to commit suicide? That’s way too young to have suicidal thoughts.

An eight-year-old girl found dead in the woods near her home had hanged herself after being bullied, police have said.
The body of little Tori Blair Wilson was discovered just 80 yards from her house near Palestine, East Texas, after she went missing from a neighborhood barbecue.
Following a weeks-long investigation, an autopsy has now revealed the second-grader died from suicide by hanging.
It also found the pretty eight-year-old had talked about suicide in the past, once even putting her head in a noose in front of one of her friends.
Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor told CBS: 'It appears she was a good student with no problems at school, but we did receive information she may have been bullied at some point.'
He told local newspaper the Palestine Herald Tori may even have been bullied on the day of her death, but investigators had not discovered any specific culprits.
Tori was a pupil at Westwood Primary School, where she was described as a 'very fine student' who was loved by teachers.
She had been playing happily with bikes and water balloons at the neighborhood barbecue near her home on Sunday, April 17, when she disappeared.
