Oprah Winfrey Signs Rosie O’Donnelll to Host Show on OWN Cable Channel: Gee, Oprah for Nothing for Nothing

What the media is so afraid to say because they’re scared to death of Oprah’s long reach, and vindictiveness is that the Oprah brand is shot because she gave her stamp of approval to Barack Obama’s run for president.

Ever since then, her ratings have tanked. So do you think Rosie O’Donnell will really help her brand any?


The New York Post is reporting that the morning after hosting a 49th birthday dinner for President Barack Obama at a gourmet Chicago restaurant, Oprah Winfrey made the move that will -- at least for the near future -- be the trademark of her new cable network.

She put Rosie O'Donnell back on daytime TV.

The deal -- in which Oprah will share ownership of Rosie's show -- effectively gives over afternoons on OWN, the Oprah Winfrey Network, to the unpredictable O'Donnell.

The deal, announced late last week, caught the entertainment business by surprise -- not the least because OWN has not had much good news to talk about in recent months.

Earlier in the week, the Discovery channel -- Oprah's money partner on the new network -- reported to investors that OWN had burned through $75 million of the anticipated $100 million start-up costs -- without a great deal to show for it.

In the TV business, where nothing stays quiet for long, the most startling thing was that it had been kept a secret.

"Believe me, it was not easy for me to do," Rosie wrote over the weekend on her Web site, rosie.com.

"Not telling is not my strong suit."

The Oprah-Rosie deal was a marriage of convenience for both sides. O'Donnell said she wanted to return to daytime soon after Oprah announced she was quitting her show after 25 years.

Despite her track record as a ratings-getter, Rosie could not convince local TV stations to take her back after the fiery ending she had on "The View."

Oprah, meanwhile, was having difficulty developing enough new shows for a brand new network. Worse, most of the new shows were from unknowns.

And the country has been suffering from her advice with double-digit unemployment rate, a skyrocketing foreclosure rates, an increase in domestic terrorism attacks, Russian spies crawling out the woodwork, illegal immigrants parading into the country through unsecured borders, 3 trillion dollar deficits, and 2 party crashers gaining entry into the White House like they were walking into a Seven/Eleven.

Thanks for nothing, Oprah!

Oprah's down in the basement, looking for her lost viewers.

"The Oprah Winfrey Show" hit an all-time ratings low for the week of June 28, averaging a 2.9 -- the first time in the show's 24-year history it fell below the 3.0 mark.

"Oprah" averaged 3.8 million viewers -- good enough for eighth among all syndicated shows but almost 2 million viewers less than daytime's reigning champ, "Judge Judy," which has now beaten "Oprah" 14 out of the past 16 weeks.

"Oprah" was also down 15 percent from the previous week and was off 9 percent from the same week last year.

Joan Rivers, never at a loss for words is taking out the heavy artillery against Oprah Winfrey who is getting on her last nerve.

I never liked Oprah myself, and especially more so ever since she sold the country on the ass kicker-in-chief in the White House.

On April 13 published reports said that talk show Queen Oprah Winfrey has decided to stop living a lie and for the first time ever, she's confessing in private what she'll never admit in public - she'd rather live with the woman who is her soul mate than a man she'll never marry.

Oprah Winfrey was devastated when best pal Gayle King shouted those venomous words, ripping apart their legendary friendship that had lasted more than 30 years.

In a shocking public spectacle, the talk queen and her once-closest companion erupted in a nasty confrontation that outraged Gayle and left their relationship dangling by a thread.

"It's getting real ugly," revealed a close friend of Oprah. "They're at each other's throats!"

An embittered Gayle is striking back by cozying up to President Obama and the first lady -- trying to infuriate the talk queen who is extremely proud of her uniquely close relationship with the first family, say sources.

And in a startling twist, the public clash has prompted the billionaire media mogul to arrange the return of on-again, off-again boyfriend Stedman Graham.

So Oprah is bouncing back and forth between Gayle King and Stedman (aka Eric Holder) Graham.

But, here is my little twist. Maybe the trouble between Gayle and Oprah has more to do with Gayle playing O dirty with Newark Mayor Cory Booker who recently appeared together at the White House state dinner for Mexican President Felipe Calderon.

That’s pretty high visibility and maybe Oprah got tired of getting her nose rubbed in it for all the world to see.

Oprah Winfrey Produces HBO Sex Series

Normally, this is not the kind of subject I write about because I hold Oprah Winfrey in very low regard. But, when I read this article in the paper this morning, a feeling inside me began welling up to the point of disgust and disappointment.

It seems that the great and wonderful Oprah Winfrey is producing a series on HBO that’s described as follows:

Oprah Winfrey's getting her kink on with a steamy new cable series about a sexually curious LA housewife.

TV's touchy-feely daytime queen will get down and dirty with the HBO series, which revolves around a married woman who suddenly leaves her husband and kids to act out her secret fantasies in LA's seamy underbelly, according to Variety.

Thanks Oprah, just what we need another voyeuristic romp into sexual escapism that glorifies the break up of the American family.

Now if Suzy Sausage were the producer of this series, I wouldn’t have given it another thought and moved on to the rest of my paper. But, is this the only kind of programming Winfrey thought was well worth her time and effort?

I’m not calling for a boycott of this show or any kind of censorship. I believe in freedom of the individual to produce whatever they want produce. But, I have to say I’m very disappointed that someone of Winfrey’s so-called stature chose to go for the titillating cheap thrill.

Why does the premise and lead character of the show have to be a suburban housewife that chucks away her husband and kids to indulge her pent up sexual fantasies?

Answer: This is exactly Oprah’s largest demographic who watches her show for the past 25 years. And I’ll bet you a dollar to a doughnut that Oprah feels so tuned in to these sexually frustrated women that she wants to tap into that dissatisfaction and turn it into a huge viewership.

Of course any consideration of the morality of a housewife who would be selfish enough to forgo her family to capture hedonistic pursuits seems to be out-dated, or old-fashioned, or outright irrelevant.

Well, it’s not irrelevant to me and others.

This is what makes Oprah a phony in my eyes. She gives away cars and opens schools in South Africa, and isn’t she so grand and special?

But, she also willfully questions the rock-solid tenets of Christianity and leads her sheep to do the same. On second thought, of course she would produce this type of show.

Marriage and family life and the stresses that go along with it are very real. But, did you really have to add your 2 cents, Oprah? And was this the best you can come up with?

Nevertheless, I guess this is a victory for Feminism and Women’s empowerment. Let’s kill our unborn babies and call it Reproductive Rights. Now, we can add housewives behaving badly just like husbands have done since the beginning of time.

This is progress, right?

Oprah Winfrey: Queen of Daytime TV, Anti-Christ or False Prophet?

Yesterday, Oprah Winfrey, the African American woman, daytime TV talk show host of dubious sexuality, announced that she will be going off the air in 2011.

What will middle-aged White woman, the bulk of Oprah’s audience, do now for their socialization and education? Can they ever survive without the Queen of TV that turned victim-hood-syndrome into a mega-billion dollar marketing empire?

I shudder to think of the consequences of having to be forced to live life without Oprah. How would millions face the world without knowing how she wants them to think or feel?

Her leaving may have catastrophic effects to the U.S. economy far worse than President Obama’s economic plan. Without her, how would we know what books to buy or movies to watch, or what doctors to see and for what?

But seriously folks, Oprah Winfrey should have left the airwaves 23 years ago. She’s done more harm than good for millions. The sad fact is many of her followers are blind to the damage she’s caused.

My theory as to the real reason she’s calling it quits is because she realizes she made a tremendous mistake endorsing Barack Obama. Her show has taken a ratings hit ever since. She said that this man should be president and just enough Americans were fooled into making it happen.

Why should her show be around for the fallout?

But, more importantly than that, Oprah has misled millions away from a relationship with our Lord!



The Oprah effect will still be felt because she intends to start her own cable network. But can we at least start pulling the curtain back and behold what she really is?
