Lady Gaga Controversial 'Alejandro' Music Video Compare with Madonna's La Isla Bonita

Lady Gaga has defended her racy new Alejandro video following a storm of criticism over the religious imagery in the clip - insisting she will not be "broken" by "prejudice".
The promo, which Gaga has previously called "a celebration and an admiration of gay love," sees the saucy singer in her underwear writhing on a bed with semi-naked male dancers in a bondage-style scene. The video also shows Gaga dressed in a latex nuns' outfit, suggestively swallowing a set of rosary beads, and appears to include references to Madonna's famous videos for Like A Prayer and Vogue.

The religious elements in the clip have caused consternation amongst campaign groups including bosses at the Catholic League, who have released a statement slamming the star's efforts. It reads, "Lady Gaga is playing Madonna copy cat, squirming around half-naked with half-naked guys, abusing Catholic symbols - they're always Catholic symbols - while bleating out Alejandro enough times to induce vomit... She has now become the new poster girl for American decadence and Catholic bashing, sans (without) the looks and talent

of her role model."
However, Gaga has hit back at the complaints, insisting she won't let the negative comments upset her. In a series of posts on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "So many will try to destroy me. So many, over and over, coming in periods of greatness. But in this period, I cannot be broken... Prejudice is a disease. And when they come for you, or refuse your worth, I will be ready for their stones..."

Now you tell me what's the difference in the music of that video with this one?
I won’t be as viscous as some other bloggers I’ve read, but lets be honest. Alejandro borrowed heavy from La Isla Bonita. The only thing missing is the guitar licks. Other than that it’s the same music.

Having said that, I really like Alejandro and I believe Lady Gaga has given it her own flavor. She’ll never be as good as Madonna, but does that really matter?

I like the song-period.

As far as the video, I gave up a long time ago trying to figure out what these wacky videos are trying to say.

Debrahlee Lorenzana: Woman Says Citigroup Fired Her Because She Was Too Hot

I wouldm’t say this is the face that would launch 1,000 ships, maybe 180, 250 tops.

From The Huffington Post:

A New York City woman has sued Citigroup for firing her because she was just too good-looking, reports the Village Voice.

Debrahlee Lorenzana, a 33-year-old single mother, worked in a midtown Citigroup branch and apparently irked her coworkers with her style of dress. "As a result of the shape of her figure," the Voice quotes her lawsuit, "such clothes were purportedly 'too distracting' for her male colleagues and supervisors to bear."

Lorenzana's lawsuit, filed in December of 2009, is one of a recent spate of sexually charged cases against major banks.

Earlier this year, Citigroup and Goldman Sachs both faced lawsuits from working mothers who claimed they were "mommy-tracked" and essentially demoted after they got pregnant.

Forbes also chronicled the plight of several female Citigroup employees, who claim that their gender played a role in their being let go from the bank during the financial crisis.

The Citi lawsuits, Forbes suggested, are part of a growing number of discrimination claims being brought against employers by women on Wall Street.

Lorenzana's case, if it is to believed, focuses specifically on her style of dress and appearance, a subject she says she discussed at length with Citigroup HR before being dismissed. Here's more from the Voice:

...the managers gave her a list of clothing items she would not be allowed to wear: turtlenecks, pencil skirts, and fitted suits. And three-inch heels. "

As a result of her tall stature, coupled with her curvaceous figure," her suit says, Lorenzana was told "she should not wear classic high-heeled business shoes, as this purportedly drew attention to her body in a manner that was upsetting to her easily distracted male managers."

"I couldn't believe what I was hearing,"

Lorenzana recalls. "I said, 'You gotta be kidding me!' I was like, 'Too distracting? For who? For you? My clients don't seem to have any problem.'"

It’s tough to be good looking.

Venus Williams' Corset-Dress at French Open: Is it Too Revealing?

Well, I guess when in France, do as the French do. Just as long as she shaves her armpits and uses deodorant.

From USA Today:

Good morning. And let's begin the day with a famous French saying: "Ooh-la-la."

Those were the words on many lips on Day 1 of the French Open as
Venus Williams played in an outfit that was straight out of Moulin Rouge.

The corset-style dress was black and lacy with red trim and had some see-through effects working. And to be fair, it wouldn't have drawn any notice at all . . . if it had been worn by a can-can dancer.

The French, being French, naturally sent some whistles raining down on Williams, who said the design was "about illusion." Oh yeah, and she did win, 6-3, 6-3 against Patty Schnyder.
