Evan Bayh: Gone! Won't Seek Re-Election

In a sign of the bad times for the Obama administration and the Democrat Party in general, yet another prominent Dem has decided to pack up and go home.

At this rate, the Republicans will control congress before the November mid-term elections due to attrition of fraidy-cat Dem pols that are unwilling to face an angry electorate.

Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh will not seek re-election this year, a decision that hands Republicans a prime pickup opportunity in the middle of the country.

Bayh is the fifth Democratic Senator not seeking re-election. He joins Sens. Chris Dodd (Conn.), Byron Dorgan (N.D.), Ted Kaufman (Del.) and Roland Burris (Ill.) on the sidelines. Six Republicans are retiring: Sens. Kit Bond (Mo.), George Lemieux (Fla.), Judd Gregg (N.H.), George Voinovich (Ohio), Sam Brownback (Kans.) and Jim Bunning (Ky.)

"My decision was not motivated by political concern," Bayh is expected to say in an upcoming statement, "Even in the current challenging environment, I am confident in my prospects for re-election."

Let me translate: I was going to get my ass kicked in November, so let me get the hell out of Dodge now and save face!

Obama’s Approval Rating 29% Among Independents

It’s official, President Barack Obama has become a toxic mess!

As much as President Barack Obama and the Democrat Party may try to deny it, their big government, big spending ways are resoundingly being rejected by a majority of the American people.

According to a Marist College survey released yesterday and reported by The New York Post, President Obama's overall approval rating has sunk to a new low and independent voters who propelled him to the White House have gotten downright sick of the job he's doing.

Obama's job-approval rating has tanked to a dismal 29 percent among independents,

His disapproval rating is nearly twice as high -- 57 percent.

Obama's overall approval among all registered voters hit a new low of 44 percent.

Democrats lost independents in off-year elections in New Jersey and Virginia, and most recently in Massachusetts last month, when the party lost Ted Kennedy's old Senate seat.

It doesn’t seem that Hope and Change is carrying the day anymore. Look for Democrats trying to save their jobs in congress to tell Obama, “No thanks, “ in helping them get re-elected.
