Ah, can the GOP bring all the troops home to cut spending? It’s a win-win issue just sitting there.

Let me once again be the lone voice in the wilderness, let me spit in the face of hurricane winds, and be the only conservative blogger in the ‘net imploring the GOP to become the anti-war party like it was in the ‘60s during the Viet Nam era.

Now, is the time to grab the issue and make it part of the GOP platform and tie it to an argument that will attract war weary voters across the political spectrum.

Where is the downside?

Can Obama argue “cut and run” in return and say it will put America’s security at risk? If he does, he and the Democrats will have to argue against their own arguments they made prior to the 2008 election. If Obama goes hawk on the issue it erodes his own base.
Or if Obama agrees to bring all the troops home, that will cut spending and once again the GOP would be the leader on an issue that Obama plays catch up.

Politically, the GOP wins both ways! Obama is forced to either follow along or go contrary to his own character. But, the GOP has to co-opt the issue now and let all the GOPers running for the nomination pick up the baton and run like hell with it.

Time to be bold!
