Top Obama advisor David Plouffe is as out-o-touch as a Members Only jacket, says people don’t worry about unemployment rates

What we have here is a failure of an administration to live in the real world and accept responsibility for its failing policies.

Everybody that works for Obama is an academic who never had a real job outside of the faculty lounge. This is why they can’t comprehend a balance sheet, an income statement, and I’m not too sure they know how to reconcile a checkbook.

What they do know how to do is tax and spend other people’s money and bash the most successful in our society to curry favor with the 47% of the people in this country who pay no income taxes.

That’s the only game they know how to play to stay in office.

Message discipline? President Obama emerged from the Oval Office under cloudy skies Friday morning to declare that "what matters most" to himself and Americans is getting the economy back on track — including job creation.

Obama described reading letters from Americans hard-hit by the economy. "Today's jobs report confirms what most Americans already know — we still have a long way to go and a lot of work to do," Obama said.

His remarks were a notable contrast to a conversation senior adviser David Plouffe had earlier this week with reporters at a Bloomberg breakfast.

Previewing the 2012 campaign, Plouffe, who managed Obama's 2008 race, said the unemployment rate won't matter that much to voters.

"The average American does not view the economy through the prism of GDP or unemployment rates or even monthly jobs numbers," Plouffe said. "People won’t vote based on the unemployment rate; they’re going to vote based on: 'How do I feel about my own situation? Do I believe the president makes decisions based on me and my family?' "
