Mark Shields: Palin Quitting As Governor Is Like Kennedy's Chappaquiddick

It’s time to put Mark Shields into the Old Folks Home for Frustrated & Bitter Liberal Commentators.

NewsBusters reports PBS's Mark Shields on Friday said Sarah Palin's decision to resign as the governor of Alaska is "like Ted Kennedy's Chappaquiddick."

This astonishingly came moments after he called Nancy Pelosi the most effective House Speaker in his lifetime on the most recent installment of "Inside Washington"

For those of you who have no idea what “Kennedy's Chappaquiddick” means, that was the event where married Ted Kennedy drove off a bridge and a single woman,

Mary Jo Kopechne, drowned in the car.

They had just come from a boozed filled sex romp party with 5 other married men and 5 single women and Ted Kennedy, the Liberal Lion, was most likely drunk out of his mind. So he gets in the car, zooted, along with Mary Joe and drives off a wooden bridge.

He manages to get out alive, but the girl dies in the car, drowned.

But, it gets better!

Ted Kennedy doesn’t report the crime until more than 10 hours had passed.

Why?

Probably he wanted to sober himself up first before he called the cops.

There was never an autopsy performed on Mary Joe Kopechne and that has been of great concern to a lot of people. That would have been standard operating procedure, but it wasn’t done in this case.

So have Sarah Palin leaving before her term was up in Alaska, and Ted Kennedy getting away with at least criminally negligent homicide.

Yeah, that sounds pretty damn similar to me.

Memeorandum
