The analysis of voter shifts reveals a nation that has undergone a political sea change in just two years, with the number of states representing political battlegrounds going from 10 in 2008 to 18 late last year -- and states that "lean Republican" or are "solid Republican" doubling from five to 10.
Every state showed a drop in Democratic support.
