Is there a competition for the most stupid act performed by an idiot?
The lure of the thrill and the quest to be famous is entering new lows of stupidity.
The Daily Mail reports that this is the terrifying moment a young driver decides to abandon the steering wheel - and his senses - and hoist himself on to the roof of his car as it cruises down the highway.
The breathtakingly dangerous stunt is known as 'ghost riding the whip', a hip-hop phenomenon popular on viral video sites like YouTube.
This latest clip is called 'ghost ride the highway' and shows a young man named as Tim Wehage surfing along the Interstate 95 in Florida. It comes just a week after two teenage boys died while performing the stunt in the same state.
It begins innocuously enough, with a view of the highway from inside a car - except the track playing in the background is Mistah F.A.B's Ghost Ride It, which has the lyrics 'pull up hop out, all in one motion, dancing on the hood, while the car still rollin'.'
And then sure enough, as the car continues, a figure slowly emerges from the driver's window, pulling himself up and on to the roof.
He spreads his feet wide for balance and 'surfs' along the road atop his seemingly driver-less car, ducking as he goes underneath a road sign which identifies the highway as the I-95 near Palm Beach Gardens.
